Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser called on Chairman Saudi Shura Council in Riyadh today according to a message received from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He was accompanied by a parliamentary delegation comprising members of the National Assembly from the treasury and the opposition.
Both the leaders discussed wide range of issues including enhancing parliamentary cooperation between National Assembly of Pakistan and Saudi Shura Council.
Issues confronting Muslim Ummah also came under discussion. There was a consensus between speaker Asad Qaiser and Chairman Dr. Abdullah that unity amongst ranks of Muslim Ummah was imperative to address the increasing Islamophobia in the western world. Speaker Asad Qaiser said that issues in the region should be resolved through peaceful means. He said that Kashmir was a flash point for the peace of the Asian sub continent. The Speaker apprised his Saudi counterpart about the tyranny of Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. He said that decisions taken by Indian government had put the minorities in India at risk. The speaker suggested that OIC should play its role for resolution of Kashmir issue and increasing Islamophobia in west.
Speaker Asad Qaiser also apprised the chairman Shura council about the proposed international parliamentary conference on Kashmir to be held in Islamabad early next year. He reiterated his gratitude for Saudi support for holding the conference. He said that it would be an apt opportunity to draw attention of the United Nations and international community towards atrocities being committed in Kashmir.
Chairman of the Saudi Majli-e-Shura Abdullah Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, while talking to the speaker said that Saudi Arabia and the Shura council will stand by their Kashmiri brethren. He said that Indian forces should end that tyranny and award constitutional rights to people of Kashmir. He expressed his satisfaction on the bilateral relations between two brotherly counties. He agreed that OIC could play an important role in putting pressure on India for resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with its international commitments.
Later Speaker Asad Qaiser along with Parliamentary delegation visited Saudi Majlis-e-Shura and signed a MoU to further enhance the collaboration between National Assembly of Pakistan and Saudi Shura Council.
