Meeting of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology was held here today in Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sajid Mehdi, MNA. The meeting of the committee commenced with the recitation of holy Quran.
The Committee unanimously approved the minutes of its meeting held on 16th October, 2019.
The Agenda item (iii), (iv) and (v) pertaining to the legislation business was discussed as moved by Syed Fakhar Imam MNA/Mover with view to amend the section in the rules “power to make rules” in the public interest through private members bill. The Chairman endorsed the proposal of the mover. However, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Malik,MNA has the view that the these types of amendments should be discussed on another forum jointly rather to discuss in the respective Standing Committees and matter should be discussed with the Honourable Speaker to constitute such forum.
The Committee suggested upon the reservation of the Representative of Ministry of Law that he should have meeting with the mover for discussion and report to the Committee in its next meeting on the three bills pertaining to Ministry of Science and Technology.
The meeting was ended with the vote of thanks and deferred the remaining agenda for meeting on 22nd November, 2019 to be held in committee room of PCSIR as per notice issued today.
