on the occasion of Universal Children Day, Ministry of Human Rights arranged a consultative workshop on Right Based Inclusion/ Mainstreaming of Children with Disabilities under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Arshad, Director General (Human Rights) at Directorate General of Special Education, Islamabad. All the Stakeholders including Additional Deputy Commissioner ICT, Federal Directorate Education Islamabad, UC Chairpersons of Local Government Department of ICT, Islamabad Police, Islamabad Traffic Police, Labor Department, Representatives of INGOs, NGOs CBOs, attended the meeting. It was apprised to all stakeholders that according to WHO research report 15% of the population which consist of 30,000 relates with the Persons/Children with Disabilities at Islamabad. To bring these children into the ambit of education, it was unanimously resolved outreach program for Right Based Inclusion of Children with Disabilities may be started from the Rural Union Councils of Islamabad. The representatives of Ministry of Education & Professional Training assured that inclusive education will be introduced in 423 general education schools under Federal Directorate of Education. Director General (HR) highlighted the importance of right based inclusion of children with disabilities. All stake holders warmly welcomed the initiative of Directorate General of Special Education and reaffirmed their commitment for provision of support to the children with disabilities through provision of financial support, assistive devices, and welfare services in this noble cause. Sheikh Azhar Sajjad, Director General (SE) emphasized for cooperation of all stakeholders for facilitation, education and rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities at Islamabad. Detailed deliberations were made and future strategies were also discussed. Various decisions were made for the improvement in education, rehabilitation and right based inclusion of children with disabilities in the normal schools. Consultative workshop ended with vote of thanks by the Director General (Human Rights).
