The Embassy of Pakistan in collaboration with Pakistan Study Centre, Tajikistan National University organized an event in the University Campus to commemorate Iqbal Day on 9th November. Members of the Tajik civil society including academia, students, journalists and Pakistani community attended the event, says a press release received from Dushanbe here today. The programme started with welcome remarks by the Deputy Rector of the University, followed by a speech of Ambassador Imran Haider in which he highlighted the influences and philosophy of the Poet of East and his association with Kashmir. He also referred to the influence of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani known as Shah e Hamadan on Allama Iqbal and his role in spreading Islam in Kashmir. Several Tajik scholars and students spoke on different facets of Iqbal’s poetry, philosophy and writings. A group of Tajik students also recited excerpts from Allama Iqbal’s poetic works in Persian and Urdu. Two books written by Dr Qurbanov Haider, Head of Pakistan Study Center (Tajik - Urdu Bol Chal and Urdu - Tajik Bol Chal) and printed in collaboration with Pakistan Embassy were also launched on the occasion. These books were greatly appreciated by the attendees. At the end prizes were distributed among the faculty members and students of the Urdu Department of Tajik National University by the Ambassador.
