PR No. 145 Renewable Energy is No. 1 Priority of the Government Islamabad, 18th October 2019

5th meeting of the Standing Committee on Energy was held in Constitution Room (old Committee Room No.5), Parliament House, at 2:30 pm under the Chairmanship of Dr. Imran Khattak, MNA. The agenda of the meeting is circulated vide Notice No. F.3 (1)/2019-Com-I Vol-II dated 14th October, 2019. Mr. Omer Ayub Khan, Minister for Energy said that alternative and renewable sources of energy is the way forward for the country, and in this regard the latest technology comprising of Solar panels is being looked into which will help in reducing the load shading of Electricity and Gas all over the country. He also said that the laying of transmission lines from Quetta to Gwadar will be completed by 2021. The Minister reiterated that digging of new gas wells in Balochistan will be resolved amicably. He further told that the indigenous production of Gas has decreased in the country and in this regard the import of LNG will help reduce the gap. The Committee asked the OGDCL not to compromise on the environment while digging new wells and the closure of pits. MNA’s Mr. Junaid Akber, Malik Anwar Taj, Mr. Noor Alam Khan, Mr. Shahid Ahmed, Mr. Muhammad Akhtar Mengal, Mr. Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Mr. Roshanuddin Junejo and Secretary Power Division along with other senior officers attended the meeting. *** ?
