PR No. 59 SUB COMMITTEE CABINET ON HIGH RISE BUILDING HAS DECIDED THAT UNDER RADIUS OF 15.24 KM OF EVERY AIRPORT MULTI STORYED BUILDINGS WILL BE CONSTRUCTED UNDER INTERNATIONAL LAWS ON CIVIL AVIATION :GHULAM SARWAR KHAN Islamabad: October 08, 2019

Sub Committee Cabinet on High Rise Building has decided that under radius of 15.24 km of every airport multi storyed buildings will be constructed under international laws on Civil Aviation.This was said by Federal Minister for Aviation,Ghulam Sarwar Khan.Federal Minister for Aviation also added that Civil Aviation Rules-1994 (Rule 68) defines height restriction in terms of various Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) around an aerodrome up to a maximum limit of 15.24 kms. International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) also defines similar criteria to safeguard aerodrome. Besides these OLSA, instrument flight procedures for aircraft operation have to be safeguarded through obstacle clearance criteria to ensure clear flights paths. For all remaining areas falling within the obstacle limitation surfaces, provisions of Rules 68 and ICAO relevant standards shall remain in force.Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that sky scrapers under 15.24 kms radius of airports are quite dangerous for aircraft landing and take off.Ghulam Sarwar Khan added that final decision in this regard will be taken by Cabinet.Dr.Sania Nishtar,SAPM on Poverty Alleviation and Omar Ayub Khan ,Federal Minister for Power are also part of this sub committee.Air Commodore Nasir Hamdani,DDG CAA and Abdul Sattar Khokhar,Senior Joint Secreatary Aviation Division were also present in the meeting.
