Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood Advisor to PM on Commerce, Textile, Industry & Production and Investment chaired the inaugural ceremony of Dawlance. Dawlance being Pakistan’s market leader in home appliances, with a vision to expand its exports business from Pakistan has now inaugurated two new production lines - one for manufacturing automatic washing machines and one for manufacturing water dispensers. The Advisor to PM appreciated the product expansion and product sophistication of Dawlance by technology upgradation. He urged the Dawlance management that products manufactured on these modern lines should be exported to other countries, ensuring strict compliance to European standards of quality and energy-efficiency. The Advisor to PM appreciated that Dawlance is contributing generously in social-responsibility initiatives to enable better education, health, and economic opportunities for the youth, empowering them with access to new technologies that offer greater convenience and productivity. The Advisor emphasized that Government realized that a conducive investment climate is instrumental in attracting both domestic and foreign investment by providing a more investment friendly institutional, policy and regulatory environment for the businesses to operate. At the National Level, we have introduced various measures for enhancing trade and investment in Pakistan; duties on raw materials have been lessened, we have conducted a thorough exercise in Tariff rationalization to support the local industries by providing raw materials at cheaper rates, he further added. Since the acquisition of Dawlance in 2016, Arçelik has invested more than $60 Million in Pakistan, to upgrade its production facilities and product quality, while also building a state-of-the-art R&D capability in Pakistan to innovate newer technologies. This reflects white goods manufacturers confidence in Pakistan’s strong potential as a priority market for hi-tech products. The Chief Executive Officer of Dawlance in Pakistan – Mr. Umar Ahsan Khan stated that; “With this expansion in our production capacity, we have achieved yet another milestone of success in becoming a globally competitive enterprise, while our increased volume of value-added exports from Pakistan, will also enrich the national economy. Our world-class home-appliances are providing unmatched reliability and convenience for the consumers, both domestically and internationally.
