A senior Japanese delegation headed by the ambassador of Japan H.E Kuninori Matsuda and Deputy Commissioner for Energy, Government of Japan called on Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM), Mr. Nadeem Babar for Petroleum, at the Petroleum Division this afternoon. The visiting delegation highlighted Government of Japan’s efforts to promote and facilitate technological development and encourage international policy collaboration on energy in view of the commitments made during “Tokyo Conference on Climate Change.” The Japanese side noted that Pakistan was emerging as an important LNG market that has attracted interest from potential Japanese investors. They further apprised SAPM of Japan’s efforts in promoting research in Carbon Recycling technologies and curtailing carbon emissions. SAPM Mr. Nadeem Babar thanked the Government of Japan for extending support towards capacity building by offering trainings to Pakistani nationals in energy sector. SAPM Nadeem Babar inquired about key steps in the carbon recycling, and carbon capturing supply chain. He admired efforts taken by Japan on researching, commercial application of hydrogen as a primary energy source. He thanked the Japanese side for extending him an invitation to attend the Ministerial Level Conference on energy to be held in September 2019 in Japan and expressed his hope to attend the said event. . *****
