A simple and impressive ceremony was held at the Pakistan House, Tehran today to mark the 73rd Pakistan’s Independence Day as Kashmir Solidarity day. A large number of Pakistan community members based in Tehran including students, businessmen and other fields attended the ceremony. Banners displaying condemnation remarks on the recent unilateral Indian act of repealing the special status of Jammu & Kashmir that was accorded in the Indian Constitution, given the disputed status of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), were put up at the Embassy and the Pakistan House Tehran, says a press release received here today from Tehran. The Independence Day ceremony commenced with hoisting of the national flag by Mian Azmat Farooq, Charge’ d Affaire’, Embassy of Pakistan, Tehran in accompaniment of the National anthem. Messages from President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan were read out on the occasion. Students from Pakistan Embassy International School & College, Tehran delivered impressive speeches and sang national songs. In their speeches, the students paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Pakistan movement who laid down their lives for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent. They condemned the recent act of abrogating the special status of Jammu & Kashmir state by the Indian government, and urged the world to take serious notice of deteriorating situation in Indian occupied Kashmir. They underlined that the Kashmir issue was subjudice to the UNSC for eventual resolution and reiterated that the Kashmir issue must be resolved according to the wishes of Kashmiri people and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. They further urged on the international community to take note of the Indian unilateral actions with an eventual aim to change the demography of Kashmir through violence, torture and genocide of the hapless Kashmiris. A group of Cross Route Motorcycle Club comprising of 16 bikers from Pakistan carrying message of peace and friendship specially travelled to Tehran on the 73rd Independence Day and participated in the ceremony. This was the first time that such Iran-bound rally was organized to celebrate the Independence Day of Pakistan in Iran. The bike rally was warmly welcomed and their courage to travel all the way to Iran under the current weather conditions and despite all the hardships were deeply appreciated. As a token of appreciation, Charge’ d Affaire’ Mian Azmat Farooq presented shields to the Chairman Mr. Mukaram Tareen & President Mr. Salman Hameed Khokhar and certificates to the members of the rally. The Mission also published a special supplement in daily “Iran News” to mark 73rd Independence Day of Pakistan.
