PR No.115 VISITING PAKISTAN NAVY SHIP HOLDS ONBOARD Islamabad: June 25, 2019

Pakistan Navy Ship ‘ASLAT’ recently arrived at Salalah Port lying 1100 Kms South of Muscat for a goodwill visit. The vessel is operating under the `Regional Maritime Security Patrol' (RMSP) initiative aimed at ensuring presence along critical chokepoints to fulfill international obligations for Maritime Security Operations while maintaining a robust security posture at strategic points within Pakistani waters, says a press release received here today from Muscat. The Commanding Officer Captain Shafiq ur Rehman met Commanding Officer Salalah Naval Unit and Commander 11 Infantry Brigade and discussed matters of common interest and conveyed greetings from Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi to his counterpart Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Raisi and Royal Navy of Oman. A Reception aboard the ship was hosted on June 17th to mark the visit with participation of Sultan Armed Forces as well as Pakistani community. Mr. Salman Athar, Deputy Head of Mission & Captain Rizwan Ali Defence Attache represented the Embassy. The visit comes with the existing framework of bilateral cooperation and exchanges. ASLAT is a front line warship indigenously built at Karachi Shipyard and is fitted with state of art equipment for undertaking maritime operations in a multi threat environment.
