PR No.98 FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS WITH QATAR’S DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER Islamabad : June 22, 2019

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi on Saturday. Two counterparts held the meeting before the arrival of Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hammad Al Thani. Foreign Minister welcomed his Qatari counterpart and discussed the visit of Emir of Qatar, which is his second visit to Pakistan since assuming office in 2013. Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani told the Foreign Minster that Qatar is interested in investing in Pakistan. Both countries enjoy close brotherly relations and Pakistan gives special importance to her relations with Qatar, Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshi told his counterpart. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Qatar in January was meant to further strengthen relations between the two countries. More than 150,000 Pakistani are playing their part in Qatar’s progress and Pakistanis based in Qatar are also playing the role of a bridge between the two countries, he said. He further said that Qatar is interested in using the services of more than 100,000 Pakistanis for FIFA World Cup 2022. Qatar is also helping Pakistan to tackle the energy crisis. Trade volume between the two countries has reached at a level of a more than 2.5 billion and there has been a gradual increase in the trade volume in recent. The Foreign Minister also said, the visit of Emir of Qatar will open new avenues for cooperation in trade and investment.
