PR No.12 FEDERAL OMBUDSMAN HAS ADVISED POLICE TO FINALIZE POLICE CLEARNACE MATTERS OF OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS WITHIN 30 DAYS Islamabad June 3, 2019

Owing to large number of complaints regarding delay in issuance of Police Verification/Character Certificate of Overseas Pakistanis living in different parts of the world, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law)/Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis, Federal Ombudsman Secretariat has asked all Inspectors General of Police i.e. Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan, AJ&K and Gilgit-Baltistan to appoint focal persons and finalize Police Clearance matters within 30-days. After that M/o Interior has also issued instructions in this regard to Inspectors General of Police. Federal Ombudsman Secretariat has also directed to ensure verification of Overseas Pakistanis matters are to be finalized within 30-days and such list be placed on the website for Overseas Pakistan/Pak Missions for information/convenience and also finalize automation/tracking of Police verification system. In the meanwhile, PPO, Punjab intimated that Police Khidmat Markiz have been established in all districts of Punjab where Police Character / Clearance Certificates are being issued through automated process. The Inspectors General of Police i.e. Sindh, KP, Balochistan, AJ&K and Gilgit-Baltistan have also reported that Police clearance matters of Overseas Pakistanis are being addressed on priority. However, perusal of the reports received from different Counsellate revealed that many cases of Overseas Pakistanis regarding Police Verification are pending in different districts of the provinces since long. The subject matter has been fixed for hearing before Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law)/Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis on 13.06.2019 with the advice to submit the status of automation process and detail of pending cases of every Mission for issuance of Police Clearance Certificates of Overseas Pakistanis relating to each district of the province. So far, due to initiative of Wafaqi Mohtasib’s Secretariat, substantial progress has been made and hundreds of cases of Police Clearance of Overseas Pakistanis have been finalized which were pending since long. With the automation, all cases of Police Clearance would be able to resolve in 30-days. MY/AA ********
