Omar Ayub Khan, Federal Minister for Petroleum said that this Government will give all assistance to international investment. He said this on Tuesday during meeting a delegation of Exxon Mobil at Petroleum Division. The delegation was headed by Alex Volkov, Chirman of LNG Market Development, Exxon Mobil. Irtiza Syed, President Exxon Mobil briefed Omar Ayub Khan, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Nadeem Babar, SAPM Petroleum about off shore drilling. He mentioned that ENI and Exxon Mobil started working at Kekra I on January 2019.Nadeem Babar added that there is an optimistic prospect of finding energy resources at Kekra I. He further said that government will defend free and safe investment in the country. Omar Ayub also said that after exploration, employment will be generated. Irtiza Syed also mentioned that Exxon Mobil is also interested in drilling of more off shore blocks and in LNG. Apart from this Exxon Mobil also stated that it can help in making of environmental friendly policy for off shore drilling that was admired by SAPM. This endeavor is a joint venture (JV) formed by ENI, Exxon Mobil, OGDCL and PPL. The Joint Venture of Indus-G Block has spudded an exploratory well namely Kekra-1 in Ultra-Deep water on 13 January, 2019. The said well will be drilled up to the Total Depth (TD) of 5,660 meters in Ultra Deep Waters, which is currently at 4,810 meters. Drilling has been entered in the phase where it will be easy to estimate that there is any oil or gas. The entry of Exxon Mobil in Pakistan is a positive signal for the E&P sector of the country. Petroleum Division has drafted Pakistan Offshore (Exploration and Production) Rules, 2019 and Model Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) 2019 which will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval. This government is making ways easy for international investment. For this purpose duties and taxes have been waived off on import of drilling equipment. *-*-*-*
