The ‘Training Manual’ on “Strategic Communication & Media Engagement” developed by Pakistan Peace Collective a project of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, was formally launched at the beginning of two-days ‘Training Workshop” organized at the National Management College, Mian Shabbir Anwer, Chief Executive Officer, Pakistan Peace Collective presented the Training Manual on “CVE Strategic Communication and Media Engagement” to the Dean, National Management College (NMC), here in NSPP Lahore during the inaugural session of 2-Day training workshop on Strategic Communication and Media Engagement. This training manual has been designed by Pakistan Peace Collective, which is a research and communication project of the Ministry of Information to train senior government officials of all discipline on how to interact and build relations with media during any crises situation. While addressing to the participants, Mr. Shabbir Anwer CEO PPC stated that “Media Engagement is an important & integral component of the syllabus of all the government training institutes. Therefore, PPC was tasked to design and conduct Pakistan’s first ever Training Course on “Strategic Communication and Media Engagement in Crisis Situation”. It’s an effort to prepare the government officials in tackling any crises situation on the communication front. The premise and purpose of this course he added, is of great significance for the Government Officials in developing their skills to appropriately handle the communication mechanism during any crisis situation particularly that emerging out of violent extremism.” The Dean NMC appreciated the efforts of PPC and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in developing the training manual and ensured its integration within the NMC course. The training module has been designed with the purpose that all the government training institutes in the long-run are able to conduct the Media Engagement trainings at their own. The first copy of the training manual was handed over to the National Management College (NMC) and later on it will delivered to all the government training institutes for plausibly managing the training in future under the observation of the officials of the Ministry. Till date, PPC has successfully conducted over 30 training workshops on the subject at NMC (Staff College), NIMs (NIPA), NPA (National Police Academy), ISA (Information Service Academy), PIPS (Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Studies) and Police College Sihala.
