In an event organized by Pakistan Tourism Dialogue (PTD) to bring together local bloggers and v-loggers, Zulfikar Bukhari, Special Assistant to Prime Minister and Chairman National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB), expressed his views about the tourism potential of Pakistan and how the role of celebrities can prove crucial to boost foreign tourist influx into Pakistan. Bukhari emphasized the need to adopt a proactive approach to brand Pakistan as one of the finest tourist destinations in the world. “The provincial governments are onboard, tourist attractions are being highlighted, now is the time to act”, he added. Our artists and players can do wonders in this regard by making appeals to their friends and fans outside and within Pakistan. From Taxila Punjab to Kund Malir in Balochistan, there are thousands of sites that have the potential to attract religious, cultural and adventure tourism. He further said, “We have a rich history and cultural heritage that has never been given international exposure”. We have the product, we just have to make a sales pitch, he said. Bukhari expressed his pleasure over PTD’s effort to bring together the bloggers and v-loggers at one place. He said that these online review writers are our assets and that the government will provide as much support as it can to reduce travel barriers. In this regard, the recent NOC issued by the government of Pakistan is an attempt to give unrestricted access to local and international adventurists. Speaking to the audience, Hamza Abbasi, the renowned Pakistani actor, said that we are witnessing a change. The government looks committed to the cause and that is visible in the positive attitude of the representatives of the government. He suggested that Cessna flights, a small private plane with six-seat capacity, should be allowed from Lahore and Islamabad airports so that the adventurists can find it easier to reach destinations where roads get blocked due to landslides. On the occasion, cricketer Muhammad Hafeez said that Pakistan is blessed with the most scenic places in the world and it is a pleasure to see Chairman NTCB so active and passionate about his new assignment.
