PR No.231 INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON ISLAMIC HISTORY, CULTURE AND HERITAGE OF KASHMIR FROM 4-5 APRIL, 2019 AT ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN Islamabad: March 31, 2019

National History and Literary Heritage Division Islamabad (NH&LH) with the collaboration of OIC Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) and the Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir is organizing an International Congress on Islamic History, Culture and Heritage of Kashmir from 4th to 5th April, 2019 in Serena Hotel, Islamabad. IRCICA is a subsidiary organ of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) that was set up in 1980. It is an international institution active in the fields of research, publishing, documentation and information. The Annual program of IRCICA 2018 proposed that the Center would make studies to assess the situation of Islamic architectural heritage in Jammu and Kashmir. Subsequently, IRCICA proposed to hold an International Congress in Pakistan on this topic in collaboration with NH&LH Division and Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K). The main objective of this Congress is to promote the learned awareness and scholarship on the Islamic history and cultural heritage of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, bringing together scholars specializing on different aspects of Islamic heritage in the region and increasing awareness for its preservation in global public opinion. The geographical focus of the congress will be Azad Jammu and Kashmir at large. The event will be comprised of two days working sessions and social events. The honorable President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi will inaugurate the Opening Session of the International Congress on Islamic History, Culture and Heritage of Kashmir on 4th April, 2019. Experts and Scholars from the OIC Member States will participate in this Congress. The Congress is expected to be attended by about 200 scholars, diplomats, academia, dignitaries & professionals from the Government of Pakistan and the Government of AJ&K.
