A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Communications (MoC) on 06-03-2019 at 11:00 Am in the Committee Room of MoC at Islamabad. Agenda of the meeting was to discuss the recent initiatives of National Transport Research Centre (NTRC). Chief NTRC, Mr. Hameed Akhtar appraised the forum about the ongoing activities of the Centre. He elaborated that the center has completed all the targets set for the first 100 days which includes the following tasks/research studies. Digitalization of NTRC Library Study on Geometric Pattern of Good Vehicles Study on Vehicles Fitness Issues in Pakistan Chief of the NTRC briefed the forum about the importance of aforementioned / carried out tasks/research studies. He further explained that the Digitalization of NTRC Library will provide an access to previous NTRC research studies related to transport sector to research community/academia. Also, a link with HEC digitalization library has been developed under this program which would provide free access to international journals / publications to the researchers of this center. Chief of the NTRC also highlighted that the recently completed research studies (Geometric patterns of good vehicles and vehicle fitness issues in Pakistan) are of utmost importance as it would make basis for framing rules in the country and would result in reduction of accidents related fatalities & injuries. Secretary, Communications appreciated the efforts of NTRC and directed that more efforts are required to disseminate the research of NTRC and its usefulness in transportation planning and formulation. He further instructed the Chief NTRC to arrange workshops / seminars on the ongoing NTRC research programs and to raise awareness among stakeholders including academia and transporter associations. ***** ?
