Federal Minister for Railways Shaikh Rashid Ahmed, currently on a visit to Iran, met with Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran on International Affairs today. He handed over a letter from President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi for the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, says a press release received from Tehran here today. Issues relating to bilateral cooperation, enhancing economic activity through rail connectivity, border security and regional stability were discussed in the meeting. Federal Minister highlighted the deep rooted historical relations between Pakistan and Iran and emphasized on enhancing bilateral relations through enhanced economic activity and rail connectivity. Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati recalled the warm welcome given by the people of Pakistan to the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Khamenei when he visited Pakistan in 1986 as President. He said that Pakistan is a very important neighbor and Iran is committed to promote friendly relations with Pakistan. He added “We should not allow any third country to damage our brotherly relations”. The Federal Minister thanked the Supreme Leader of Iran for his support to the cause of Kashmiri people. ***** ?
