Mr. Jamshaid Kazi, Country Representative of UN Women, accompanied by Ms. Saman Ahsan, Program Management Consultant, called on Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza. Matters pertaining to enhance cooperation between the UN Women and the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination came under discussion. The Country Representative of UN Women gave detailed introduction to the areas where their organization is actively working and expressed desire to strengthen cooperation with IPC particularly in promoting Women Sports and in addressing the issues faced by the female athletes. Dr. Mirza highlighted the importance of Sports and said that Pakistan have immense talent. Despite limited resources and a number of challenges, our female players are outshining in various sports. It is important that their voice may be heard and they may have equal opportunities and resources. She added. It was agreed that with collaboration of UN Women and Ministry of Inter- Provincial Coordination a meeting/conference will be convened to provide a forum to female athletes where they can share the challenges and issues faced by them. It would also provide an opportunity to get some ideas and suggestions to direct long-term deliberations.
