Dr. Syed Nazir Gilani, President of Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights (JKCHR), called on President Dr. Arif Alvi and discussed the human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoK). The President appreciated the efforts of Dr. Nazir Gillani and his organization in highlighting the human rights situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and stressed that Kashmiri leadership, as a party to the dispute, have a significant role in raising consciousness around the world about the massive human rights violations of the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The President reiterated that the OHCHR Report supports Pakistan’s repeated assertions of the Indian atrocities in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and calls for the formation of a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to conduct a comprehensive, independent, international investigation into the human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. The President reassured Dr. Gillani of Pakistan’s consistent support to the Kashmiris in the fulfillment of the legitimate right to self-determination as enshrined in the numerous United Nations Security Council Resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. While highlighting the findings of the report of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Dr. Gillani stated that the OHCHR Report is considered a watershed moment by the Kashmiri community all over the world. It is important to draw attention of the world to the massive human rights abuses in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir in context of the OHCHR Report. *-*-*-* ?
