The Ambassador of Yemen, H.E Mr. Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister today. He conveyed the felicitations of the Yemeni leadership to the Prime Minister on his election and conveyed best wishes for the success of his government in achieving the goal of building a prosperous, progressive and forward looking Pakistan. The Prime Minister reciprocated the warm sentiments of Yemeni leadership and wished for an early end of hostilities for lasting peace in Yemen, which was key to regional and global peace. Mr. Alashabi briefed the Prime Minister on the latest situation in Yemen. The Prime Minister assured the Ambassador of unwavering support of Pakistan for an early resolution of the conflict, in light of UN Security Council Resolution 2216. He said Pakistan will continue to support for the restoration of the legitimate government of President Abdurabuh Mansour Hadi and would play its role to bring all parties to conflict for a political settlement. He added that conflict in Yemen affects the regional peace and stability and no military solution can resolve it. Emphasizing that all parties must engage in dialogue, the Prime Minister called for opening channels of humanitarian assistance for the people suffering from famine in Yemen. He also called for more concerted and coordinated efforts at the global level, to alleviate the sufferings of Yemeni people and to ensure their safe return to their homes. ***** ?
