The Prime Minister of Pakistan in his maiden speech to the nation emphasized the need to take austerity measures that affect the welfare of the nation. He specifically mentioned; the need to utilize heritage buildings like Governor Houses, state Guest Houses etc. for public use. With this objective, he has immediately set up a Committee headed by the Federal Minister for National History & Literary Heritage Division, Mr. Sahfqat Mahmood and including a number of experts in the field of architecture, visual arts, designing etc. the first meeting of the Committee shall be held on Monday, 27th August 2018 in the National History & Literary Division, Islamabad in which various options shall be discussed to make the best possible use of these old and historical buildings. The Minister soon after taking charge of the assignment held meeting with Secretary, NH & LH Division and advised him to invite experts for the above meeting. The Committee shall consist of the following members:- 1. Mr. Shafqat Mahmeed Chairman Minister for National History & Literary Heritage Division 2. Mr. Nayyar Ali Dada – Architect (Lahore) Member 3. Mr. Rashid Rana – Artist (Lahore) Member 4. Mr. Shamoon Sultan – Businesman (Karachi) Member 5. Mr. Omar Hasan – Architect/Educator (Lahore) Member 6. Dr. Faisal Khan – Scientist (Peshawar) Member 7. Mr. Omar Khan Afridi – Retired Civil Servant (Peshawar) Member 8. Mr. Naeem Safi – Designer (Peshawar) Member 9. Mr. Akram Dost Baloch – Visual Artist (Quetta) Member 10. Miss Muneeza Hashmi –Media (Lahore) Member 11. Miss Adeela Suleman – Visual Artist (Karachi) Member 12. Mr. Samar Ali Khan – Architect (Karachi) Member 13. Engr. Aamir Hasan – Secretary, Member/ National History & Literary Heritage Division
