PR No.31 WORK ON VERIFICATION OF JOURNALISTS TO RESUME SOON ISLAMABAD: August 10, 2018

The selection committee for allotment of plots has decided to start work from August 16th, 2018 on finalizing a list for journalists/media workers in federal government employees’ housing foundation schemes. The decision was taken in a committee meeting headed by its Chairman, Mr. Shafqat Jalil Additional Secretary, Information & Broadcasting Division here on Thursday. Representatives of journalists and media workers, who are also members of the committee, attended the meeting. The committee members agreed to initiate work on finalizing the list from August 16th, 2018. It was also agreed that the committee will meet on regular basis until the list is finalised. A representative of the Information Ministry informed the committee that the ministry received verification forms from almost 900 prospective journalists/media workers who applied for plots under various schemes. The meeting was informed that almost 3,000 journalists/media workers applied for various categories of plots. The meeting was informed that the Ministry will speed up the verification process. It was also decided that the committee will send reminders to remaining journalists/workers for early submission of verification forms to the ministry. The meeting also decided that the Ministry of Information will take up the journalists/media workers’ issues with the new government. It is worth mentioning that the Information Ministry has constituted the selection committee to prepare recommendations for allotment of plots to the journalists/media persons on the request of ministry of housing and works. The meeting was attended by Mr. Tahir Khushnood, Director General (IP); President PFUJ Mr. Afzal Butt; Mr. Nawaz Raza, Senior Journalist, Nawa-i-Waqat; President, NPC Tariq Chaudhry; Secretary, NPC Mr. Shakeel Anjum; President RIUJ, Mubarak Zeb Khan; Secretary General APNEC, Ikram Bukhari; President MWO, Mr Kaleem Shamim; Secretary MWO Mr. Raja Javed; Chairman Local APNEC, Islamabad Mr Sidiq Anzar; Javed Siddique, Senior Journalist; and Mr Arshad Majeed Chaudhary, APP Islamabad.
