Prime Minister Justice (R) Nasir-ul-Mulk today chaired a meeting at Governor House Lahore to review law & order and the preparations being made to ensure peace and security during General Elections 2018. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Hasan Askari Rizvi, Home Minister Mr. Shaukat Javed, Minister LG & CD Mr. Zafar Mehmood, Minister Information & Culture Mr. Ahmed Waqas Riaz, Chief Secretary Mr. Akber Hussain Durrani, IG Police Mr. Kaleem Imam, Provincial Election Commissioner Mr. Zafar Iqbal Hussain and senior government officials. Chief Secretary Punjab Mr Akber Hussain Durrani made a detailed presentation on the arrangements that have been made by the provincial government to ensure security and maintain law and order during the electioneering process in the province. He also apprised the Prime Minister about the successes made in disrupting planned terrorist activities in various parts of the province. The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts being made and the coordination exhibited by law enforcement agencies to ensure law and order in the province. The Prime Minister said that with election day in sight, greater efforts, vigilance and coordination is needed to ensure smooth and peaceful completion of the polling process. The Prime Minister emphasized that special attention should be paid to ensure safety and security of political leadership and the general public attending corner meetings. He stressed that the administration should maintain a close liaison with political leadership to ensure strict compliance of Election Code of Conduct and the security protocols set for the General Elections 2018. Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Hasan Askari Rizvi assured the Prime Minister that the provincial government is fully committed to discharge its constitutional obligation of facilitating free, fair and peaceful elections. Earlier, the Prime Minister also had a meeting with the Governor, Chief Minister and the members of Provincial Cabinet. ***** ?
