While turning down the speculations regarding the privatization of PIA, Advisor to PM on aviation Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan said that PIA is a national and prestigious institution and we are striving hard to uplift its standards on the recommendations of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He shared it while talking to the media on his visit to Bacha Khan International airport Peshawar and inspected different areas and work progress of construction.

Advisor to PM and members of the special committees were briefed about the existing condition, expansion and renovation work of Bacha khan int’s airport Peshawar. Officials were briefed that in order to modernized and upgrade PIA as per international standards, rapid work is being done with an amount of 3 billion.

Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan shared that PIA is not only our national airline but also has enjoyed an exemplary and memorable past which had paved an ideal path for different international airlines. It is very unfortunate that this institution lost its all dignity and performance because of corruption and poor management which resulted in the financial deficit of this airline. As a result, financial deficit of last year was 36billion.

He further added that government has no intention to privatize PIA yet it has decided to modernize and upgrade it on commercial basis. Induction of latest and modern technology is being made to maximize the efficiency and productivity of PIA. We are well aware of different weak areas which need reformation as per modern time. We have started to restructure all the administrative and operational matters to ensure the best services of this national airline including safety measure, manage the delay flights, purchase of new airplanes.

We are determined to run this institution on purely commercial and professional basis and in this course of action noncompliance will not be tolerated at any cost. We believe that open Merit system and transparency is the grace of our restructuring process. Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan instructed all officials not to comprise with the quality at any level.
