PR No. 56 US TEAM TO IMPARTING TRAINING ON GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES TO DRAP OFFICERS. Islamabad: May 9, 2018

A team from United States Pharmacopeia (USP) has started training DRAP officers on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) with the aim of capacity building and strengthening inspection system. The training would go a long way in achieving WHO level III performance of National Regulatory Authority (NRA) and Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme (PICS) membership. CEO, DRAP in his opening remarks welcomed and thanked USP experts, namely Dr. Souly Phanovong, Director, Global Public Health- Asia, USP, Mr. Khalid SaeedBukhari, USP representative, Pakistan, Mr. Sultan Ghani, GMP Expert, Mr. Mueid Ahmed, GMP Expert for their help and support in capacity building of DRAP officers. The training would help DRAP to achieve functional level memberships i.e. Level-III performance of NRA and PICS membership. He urged the participants to make best use of the opportunity to be trained by the international experts such as Mr. Sultan Ghani and Mr. Mueid Ahmed and was hopeful that officers would put in practice the knowledge gained and reminded that they would be resource persons for further sharing the knowledge. Dr. Souly thanked the CEO, DRAP and management for arranging training programs. He was of the opinion that transferring knowledge and experience through training would be put in practice and would help in achieving GMP compliance of Pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Sultan Ghani and Mr. Mueid Ahmed, GMP experts and trainers informed that the training course would be interactive and urged participants to make this opportunity for learning by asking more and more questions. In the end Mr. Khalid SaeedBukhari, USP representative remarked that everyone has very high expectation from DRAP officers to transform the organization working and to achieve WHO level-III functioned level and membership of PICS. By achieving level-III NRA, DRAP would be considered as performing regulatory authority by WHO and by achieving PICS membership, foreign inspections from 49 countries would be exempted andDRAP’s inspection would be consideredreliable. He thanked CEO, DRAP and remarked that he is a man of commitment.
