PR No.52 “All Industrial Units In Islamabad Must Comply With Environmental Standards”, Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan Islamabad: April 6, 2018

The delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce called on Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahdullah Khan at Ministry of Climate Change. Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan said while talking to delegation that pollution is not issue of Ministry only but for whole country. Every individual in this country is facing many problems due to industrial wastages and hazardous hospital discharge. Children our country are having pre mature deaths due to pollution and contaminated water. He further added that it is our collective responsibility to keep our environment free of pollution .All industrial units in Islamabad must comply with Environmental standards of Environmental Protection Agency. He also highlighted that owners of industries in Islamabad themselves take initiatives to follow environmental standards. Federal Minister for Climate Change also instructed the delegation to develop a working plan with Director General Environmental Protection Agency Farzana Altaf to ensure compliance with environmental standards. Federal Minister for Climate Change also ensured to solve issues of members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce. The President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce Sheikh Amir Waheed suggested installing cameras in each industrial units and live access to be given to Environmental Protection Agency. It would help Environmental Protection Agency to live monitor the emission of industrial units. It was agreed by the delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce to provide undertaking to Director General environmental Protection Agency that they would comply with environmental standards. They would also develop a mechanism to ensure that pollution-controlling plants are working properly in all units. The meeting was attended by Director General Environmental Protection Agency Farzana Altaf, Director General Environment Irfan Tariq, and President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce Mr.Sheikh Amir Waheed and other members. ***
