PR No.30 Imperative to Stop Brutal Suppression in Indian Kashmir & Palestine Pak Supports Russia’s Regional Approach to Afghanistan Pak Willing to Share Counterterrorism Experience ....Khurram Dastgir Khan Islamabad: April 4, 2018

“It is imperative for the international community to stop brutal suppression of the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir and of Palestine. Jammu & Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions, taking into account the aspirations of the Kashmiris.” Minister for Defence Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan stated this during his speech at the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS 2018). He is heading Pak delegation to MCIS 2018, which began today in the Russian capital. In a wide-ranging speech, Defence Minister appreciated Russia’s role in combating ISIS in Syria, but warned that “non-state actors representing conflicting interests in the region will continue to threaten the fragile peace process in Syria.” Emphasizing Pakistan’s success in countering terrorism through Operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fisaad, Defence Minister noted that, “After successful completion of kinetic operations, we are consolidating our gains under a comprehensive National Action Plan to deny space to the terrorists to re-group or re-establish their networks.” Minister Khan offered to share Pakistan’s hard-won and extensive counterterrorism experience with international partners. Khurram Dastgir Khan supported Russia’s efforts to develop a regional approach to cessation of conflict in Afghanistan. “Pakistan maintains that an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led internal reconciliation process is the only viable option of sustainable peace in Afghanistan,” he said. Defence Minister expressed concern at presence of Daesh in Afghanistan and at use of drug money for terror financing as a consequence of phenomenal rise in drug cultivation in Afghanistan. During his visit to Moscow, Khurram Dastgir Khan will meet his Russian counterpart, Minister for Defense of the Russian Federation, General Sergei S. Shoigu to discuss burgeoning defense relations between the two nations. On sidelines of MCIS 2018 Minister Khan, who is also Pakistan co-Chair of Pak-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission, will meet his Russian counterpart Denis V. Manturov, Minister for Trade and Industry. ***** ?
