Ministry of Human Rights takes serious
notice of the heinous incident of rape and murder of seven year old girl
Zainab, who had gone missing on January 4, when she ventured out of the house
and her body was found in a garbage pile five days later.
Ms. Rabiya Javeria Agha, Secretary,
Ministry of Human Rights has directed the Chairman "National Commission
for Human Rights"(NCHR) and "National Commission on the status of
Women (NCSW) to setup an inquiry of this condemnable and horrific incident. She
strongly condemned this barbaric incident and said that strong action should be
taken against the perpetrators. She further said that there were very solid and
sound recommendations that had been forwarded, but it is very painful to see
that no concrete steps have been taken by the administration of Kasur to curb
the recurrence of such grave incidents.
Two years back officials from Ministry of
Human Rights visited Kasur in order to examine the heinous crime of child
sexual abuse in the vicinity of village Hussain Wala, where they meet Chief
Secretary and IG Punjab. In meeting Ms. Rabiya Javeria Agha, Secretary,
Ministry of Human Rights showed grave concern over child abuse/murder cases
reported in Kasur district. She emphasized that there is a dire need to
identify socio-economic dimensions of the heinous crime of child sexual abuse
in the vicinity of village Hussain Wala, District Kasur so as to adopt a
comprehensive strategy/package to address the issue in all its dimensions.
