President Mamnoon Hussain has
said that Ijtihad is necessary for effective implementation of reforms in
society and Islamic teachings. It is responsibility of the religious scholars
to produce such scholars who can perform Ijtihad in order to meet the
requirement of modern era.
The
President said this while talking to Dr. Syed Salman Nadvi who called on him
along-with a delegation here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday.
The
President emphasized that there is a great responsibility on the religious
scholars to reform the society. He highlighted that religious scholars of
sub-continent have played a valuable role in this regard but gradually the
matters moved from reforms to traditions which change the entire
situation. It is therefore imperative that religious segments should
follow a broadminded approach for the reformation of society so that desired
objectives could be achieved, he added. He underlined that according to the
true spirit of Islam it is necessary to only seek guidance from Quran and
Sunnah for the formation of society by rising above from the level of different
schools of thought.
The
President said that Dr. Syed Salman Nadvi and his family have rendered commendable
services in Islamic preaching and Pakistan Movement for which they are hugely
respected in the country.
