PR No.11 FAREWELL LUNCH HOSTED BY PAKISTAN AUDIT AND ACCOUNTS SERVICE OFFICERS IN THE HONOR OF OUTGOING AUDITOR GENERAL OF PAKISTAN, RANA ASSAD AMIN, WHO WILL BE CONCLUDING HIS TERM AS AGP ON APRIL 08, 2017 Islamabad: 03, April 2017

A farewell lunch was hosted by Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service Officers in the honor of outgoing Auditor General of Pakistan, Rana Assad Amin, who will be concluding his term as AGP on April 08, 2017.

Speaking on this occasion the Auditor General of Pakistan said that it’s a matter of great honor for him to conclude his tenure as 19th Auditor General of Pakistan. Department of Auditor General of Pakistan is an institution that was once aligned to the prevailing thinking of the time. When I took reigns of the office I restored the dignity and impartiality of the office. I steered the institution to a position of being one of the world’s best. I carried my constitutional mandate with great diligence, commitment and strong desire to serve the people of Pakistan.  I brooked no favors from anyone and discouraged the practices of nepotism in the Department. I remained ethical and focused to my mandate and instilled in the values of good governance and accountability, said AGP.

AGP further reiterated that soon after taking oath of the Office of Auditor General of Pakistan on June 08, 2015, he initiated a series of reforms that will not only bear enduring significance for the Department but will also raise its stature as Supreme Audit Institution of Pakistan committed towards ensuring financial accountability of Government. The aim of these reforms is to improve the structure of governance in the Department by putting to an end the lackluster performance based on traditional auditing approach, AGP added.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Muhammad Yahya, Director General DAGP thanked Auditor General of Pakistan on behalf of PA&AS Officers and said that the AGP served the Department with dignity and professionalism and with his selfless and patriotic approach he succeeded in building a positive image of DAGP. AGP never comprised on his principles of honesty and integrity and always exhibited zero tolerance for corruption and inefficiency, he added.

He further said that AGP gave a new vision to the Department and became trend setter for strategic management of Department. As AGP he introduced the first ever strategic plan and set roadmap for improving audit independence, capacity building, audit modernization and for upgrading overall governance of the Department, he added. He further said that the Auditor General of Pakistan kept on pushing for short term and long term reforms throughout his tenure and achieved major goals of his strategic reforms through high-level monitoring.
