Chairperson Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Ms. Leila Khan, held a meeting with the officials of National Bank of Pakistan to review the progress of Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Program.

 NBP team briefed the chairperson on various initiatives being taken by the bank to improve the outreach of this program to the masses. NBP is considering partnering with UNDP in outreaching skilled and unemployed youth for providing them sustainable entrepreneurial opportunities. An initial meeting between NBP and UNDP has already been held to discuss the possibilities of mutual cooperation and partnership. Besides, NBP has also met the NAVTTC officials in Islamabad to explore the possibilities of tapping into PMYSDP trained youth for PMYBL. Under this initiative, NAVTTC will share the data of Pakistani Youth trained under Prime Minister Youth Skill Development Program with National Bank of Pakistan for screening potential candidates for PMYBL.

Ms. Leila Khan appreciated NBP’s efforts and advised them to put these initiatives on fast track for their early completion. NBP team informed the chairperson that there were approximately 10,000 applications in process in the system and their team was working hard to complete the process. Besides, the portfolio infection ratio that was12% has been brought down to nearly 7.5% marking the recovery rate as 92.5%.   Ms. Leila advised them to adopt all measures for early disbursement in all pending applications.
