President Mamnoon Hussain has said that terrorists should surrender themselves before the state and end their barbarism on innocent people of Pakistan otherwise they should get ready to face dire consequences.

The President said this while addressing the concluding ceremony of FATA Sports Festival in Peshawar on Wednesday. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi also addressed on the occasion. Jirgas from the seven agencies of FATA were also present during the ceremony. Thousands of players participated in the sports festival and for the first time in the history of tribal areas women players also participated under parda. On the occasion, former Federal Minister Dr. GG Jamal presented the traditional turban to the President.

Expressing solidarity with the affectees of terrorist attack in Mardan, the President said that the government would not leave the affectees of terrorism alone and assured that all their problems would be resolved. The President stated that the people displaced due to terrorism would be rehabilitated in their homes with honour. The President said that terrorism is taking its last breath in Pakistan and now the Pakistani people cannot be intimidated by such cowardly attacks. The President emphasized that people would not be left at the mercy of terrorists adding that now anti-state elements cannot mislead the youth of FATA and operation Zarb-e-Azb would continue till elimination of the last terrorist.

The President said that successful holding of sports festival in tribal areas is a proof that terrorism cannot survive in any area of Pakistanincluding tribal areas. He stated that the youth of tribal areas are competitive and to further hone their skills a modern sports complex would be constructed in FATA. The President directed Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi to get the feasibility of sports complex prepared early.

The President said that Pakistan is now on the path to progress and prosperity. He stated that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is inevitable for economic revival in the country and called upon the people to get united for completion of CPEC. The President stated that the government would soon introduce new education policy wherein effort has been made to meet the needs of students of FATA on priority basis.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi said that terrorists’ backbone has been broken and now they are cowardly attacking the innocent people but they would not be spared.

During the concluding ceremony of sports festival, youth of tribal areas displayed their skills in martial arts and gymnastics. On the occasion, prizes were distributed amongst youth who performed well. Hundreds of sportspersons belonging to FATA and gliders carrying Pakistani flags made a march-past and saluted the President.
