The newly appointed Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ms Margaret Adamson paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here Thursday morning.

Minister Dar welcomed the High Commissioner on taking up her responsibilities and assured her of all possible support.

Margaret Adamson on this occasion said that the government and people of Australia looked forward to the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif early next year. She said the visit would help enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Finance Minister said there was great scope for enhancing Pak-Australia cooperation and agreed the visit would further strengthen close bilateral relations. He said Australia has been a great friend and trusted economic partner of Pakistan.

The Minister on this occasion shared with the Australian envoy details about the recent launch of Eurobond which, he said, turned out to be a success despite a turbulent international financial market. The bond he said was twice oversubscribed but Pakistan opted to take US$ 500 million.

The Minister also apprised Ms Margaret about the successful 8th IMF review.

Ms Margaret Adamson thanked the Finance Minister for receiving her and said she would do her utmost to contribute to strengthen overall cooperation between the two countries. The Minister wished her the best during her diplomatic assignment in Pakistan.
