A meeting of the Board of Governors of the University of Health Sciences was held here on Sunday under the chairmanship of Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization.
This was the first meeting of the Board of Governors of UHS after the new non-official members were notified by the Government of Punjab last week. At the outset of the meeting, all members of the Board of Governors unanimously agreed to make Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar as Chairman of Board of Governors. Thereafter, Finance Minister thanked the members for reposing trust in him and hoped that the new Board of Governors would do its best for the UHS. He also appreciated the performance of the previous BoG, especially the outgoing members Mehr Jiwan Khan and Justice ® Aamer Raza. He welcomed the nomination of two ladies on the newly constituted BoG. This, he said, was proof of commitment of Punjab government for empowering women.
UHS Vice Chancellor Maj Gen ® Prof. Muhammad Aslam gave detailed briefing to the Chairman regarding the working of the university.The BoG deliberated upon the possibilities for mobilizing resources for the Kala Shah Kaku campus of the UHS. The meeting also discussed in detail the agenda related to administrative matters as well as policy and regulatory matters.
The Chairman said that enough time should be given to the student nurses so that they could complete their education but there had to be a maximum time limit also. It was also decided in the meeting that 7 year ban should be imposed on students who commit forgery in their names.
Prof Amir Aziz, Ms Seema Ilahi Baloch, Secretary Finance Punjab and Secretary Health Punjab also attended the meeting.
