Federal Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Prime Minister AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majid at the Ministry of Finance this afternoon.

At the outset of the meeting, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed conveyed warm sentiments and felicitations of the people of AJK for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for highlighting the Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly.

PM AJK discussed with the Finance Minister various financial matters related to Azad Kashmir as well as different development schemes in the area. He also raised the matter of timely release of AJK’s share of taxes collected by AJK Council.

The Finance Minister said the welfare and well being of the people of Kashmir is among the top priorities of the government and no stone will be left unturned for the development of the area.

The Finance Minister gave directions for immediate release of Rs. 500 million of financial support to AJK Government to facilitate work on different schemes. The Minister also assured PM AJK that the Federal government is keen to address any structural issues that might be impeding the developmental activities in the region. He sought concrete proposals from the AJK government in this regard.

Prime Minister AJK thanked the Finance Minister for his keen interest in the development and well being of AJK and its people.
