President Messages on the occasion of Christmas and Quaid-i-Azam Birth 139th Anniversary

MESSAGE FROM MR. MAMNOON HUSSAIN PRESIDENT OF ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN ON THE OCCASION OF CHRISTMAS, 2015

Islamabad: December 24, 2015

On the auspicious occasion of Christmas, I extend my heartiest greeting to our Christian brethren all over the world and in particular to those living in Pakistan.
Christmas, the celebration of birth of Jesus Christ, is an occasion to rejoice and celebrate. On this day, the world got a Messiah who brought a message of love, peace, tolerance and compassion for humanity. It is time to re-dedicate ourselves to follow the noble ideals of Jesus Christ and work individually as well as collectively for the betterment and welfare of humanity and to contribute our share in making the world a safer place to live.
Jesus Christ guided people to virtuous living and urged them to seek divine mercy from God. We, as Muslims, deeply revere Jesus Christ as one of the great messengers of Allah Almighty. His teachings and message of love and peace is as relevant to us as it is to our Christian brethren. Indeed, his message of love, compassion and sacrifice is relevant to the entire humanity.
On this occasion, I would also like to acknowledge and appreciate the valuable contribution made by our Christian brethren in Pakistan in all fields. The nation is proud of their great contributions in the development of the country and deeply admires their loyalty to the state and commitment to obedience to the law. I have no doubt that they will continue to play their positive role for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The equality of all citizens of the state has been enshrined in our Constitution which had also been made abundantly clear by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947. I would like to reiterate that the Government of Pakistan would continue making every possible effort for the welfare and betterment of minorities.
The present democratic Government is committed to pursue policies that are aimed at creating greater harmony and cohesion among people of different faiths. Let me reiterate that we would continue our efforts to fight religious intolerance. Let it also be made clear that we will not permit the persecution of members of other faiths in the name of religion.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN ON 139th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF QUAID-E-AZAM (25TH DECEMBER 2015)

Islamabad: December 24, 2015

I extend my heartiest felicitation to the Nation on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam’s 139th birth anniversary which is being celebrated at the time when by the grace of Allah Almighty our country has embarked upon the path to progress as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Quaid-e-Azam’s boldness and sincerity of purpose, determination and integrity endeared him to the millions of people who gave him all-out support in the marathon struggle for the creation of Pakistan. His nobility and strength of character will ever remain an eternal source of inspiration and guidance for all of us.
Quaid-e-Azam united the discordant elements among the Muslims of the sub-continent, welded them into a nation in a remarkably short time and secured for them a separate and independent homeland. He was a paragon of uprightness, honesty, integrity and courage of conviction. He neither compromised on principles nor allowed expediency to influence his judgment. His conduct was above reproach, his incorruptibility unquestioned and his scrupulous honour universally acknowledged. These pre-eminent attributes endowed him with clarity of vision and steadfastness of pursuit for the achievement of the Islamic State of Pakistan.
Today we are not merely paying our homage to the memory of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, but reaffirming our abiding faith in his imperishable teachings. I urge the people of Pakistan to forge unity in their ranks, to defeat the forces of extremism and militancy and uphold the principles of democracy, constitution and rule of law. Let us dedicate ourselves, on this historic occasion, to keep the unity of the country and glory of Islam uppermost in our thoughts and deeds. Let the Quaid’s teachings “Unity, Faith and Discipline” be a beacon for us for all times to come. May Allah give us the courage and strength to build Pakistan into a truly democratic state. Ameen!
