President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the nation should trust honest and truthful people while selecting its leadership and reject such people who deprived the country of progress and created hurdles in the way of development.

The President said this while addressing the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Achievement Awards Ceremony here in Faisalabad on Wednesday evening. On the occasion, awards were given to eminent traders and industrialists and a posthumous award was also given to the youngest IT expert Arfa Karim which was received by her father. President FCCi Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz and President FPCCI Mian Muhammad Idrees also addressed the ceremony.

The President stated that in order to broaden the taxpayers’ base innovative suggestions should be put forth. The President asked the FPCCI to present workable proposals in this regard. The President said that if the tax rate is fixed at a minimum level then as a result there could be a considerable increase in the number of taxpayers. Acceding to the demands presented by President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz, the President said that he would direct the concerned departments to establish a bench of Lahore High Court in Faisalabad besides resolving its other issues.

The President said that Pakistan’s traders and industrialists should lend their support to timely completion of the ongoing development projects in the country to pave the way for economic progress and prosperity of the people. The President stated that the government has taken steps for resolving the issues of traders and industrialists by launching electricity generation projects which will lead to enhancement in exports. He assured that electricity loadshedding would be eliminated in the next two to two and a half years and called upon the people to support the government in completion of all development projects and reject those people who put hurdles in the way for their petty interests. The President said that it is in national interest to complete and operationalize China-pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects adding that many countries of Central Asia have started construction of roads to link with the Economic Corridor. The President stated that CPEC has the capacity to change the fate of not only Pakistan and China but also other countries of the region.

Speaking on the occasion, President FCCI Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz said that policy priorities of the government for national economic growth are correct adding that action against the terrorists is continuing successfully and as a result law and order is being restored and business environment reviving. He demanded that Export Display Centre should also be set up in Faisalabad.
