PR No.258 Delegation Of GE Meets Finance Minister Islamabad

A 3-member delegation of the General Electric(GE), led by Frederic Ribieras, Global Chief Financial Officer (GCFO) had a meeting with the Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here Wednesday.

The delegation had detailed discussion with the Minister on GE’s investment programme in Pakistan.

Mr. Frederic Ribieras recalled recent visit of Chairman and CEO of GE Jeffery Immelt to Pakistan and meeting with a number of senior officials. He said that the General Electric firmly holds the view that the enabling environment provided by the present Government has positioned Pakistan as an investor friendly country which is open to opportunities. He also mentioned about recent announcement of a substantial investment in Pakistan by GE and added it is both a reflection of this positive business environment and GE’s commitment to the country.

Minister Dar appreciated the GE’s investment ventures in Pakistan and said the government welcomes foreign investment and has an effective mechanism in place to facilitate it. He said that encouraged by overall improvement in the security environment and the economic stability Pakistan had achieved, a number of reputed foreign companies had expressed keen desire to explore business opportunities in Pakistan. Our support to you and other such companies would always be forthcoming, the Minister remarked.

Mr. Frederic Ribieras and members of accompanying delegation thanked the Finance Minister for sparing time out of his busy schedule to meet them.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance attended the meeting.
