PR No. 133Defence Consultative Group Meets In USA For 24th Meeting Islamabad: December 13, 2015

A High Level Pakistani Defence Delegation headed by Secretary Defence Lt. General (Retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak left for USA to attend the 24th Meeting of Defence Consulative Group to be held in Washington.

The Secretary Lt. General (Retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak will be discussing bilateral issues and issues of importance between Pakistan and USA.

USA side will be headed by undersecretary of State for Defence Ms. Christine Wornuth. Apart from holding important sessions of DCG, Secretary Defence will meet US Congressmen, Senators, Staffers and Think Tanks.

Pakistan side will stress for a way forward on issues related to Coalition Support Fund, its reimbursement continuation and enhancement. It remains high on agenda that Pakistan requires security equipment for capacity building and counter-terrorism operations. Therefore, it is our prime requirement that not only our conventional capability needs to be increased but the cooperation with USA should be broad-based. Secretary will hold a talk with the think-tanks in USA to increase an understanding of Pakistan’s defence issues in the United States.
