The Machine Readable Passport facility was launched at the Embassy of Pakistan, Berlin, on 9 December 2015, says a press release received from Embassy of Pakistan, Berlin here today.

The facility was jointly inaugurated by Syed Hasan Javed, former Ambassador to Germany, through Skype, and Mr. Ameer Khurram Rathore, Charge d’ Affaires.  The newly installed MRP system will benefit 23% of Pakistani community living in 9 Northern States of Germany. This facility is already available at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Frankfurt, catering to the needs of 77% of Pakistani community settled in the seven Southern states of Germany.  According to the unofficial figures, there are roughly 90,000 Pakistanis living in Germany.
