Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif while reviewing and finalising National Health Insurance Program said, ‘Poverty and disease is a deadly combination. We have to target poverty and disease eradication simultaneously because disease can ruin families economically’, said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said this while chairing a meeting on the programme at PM House this morning.

The Prime Minister said that the National Health Insurance initiative designed for seven deadly diseases should be designed and implemented in a transparent manner. ‘I want technology to be used for effective feedback and monitoring system. There must be extensive monitoring by NADRA. This program will be as good as good the monitoring system works’, stressed the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister was briefed that State Life Insurance is being involved in executing the insurance program. The Prime Minister directed that before execution of the programme, a comprehensive awareness program should be launched.

The meeting was also attended by Eng Khurrum Dastagir, Minister for Commerce, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Ms. Saira Afzal Tarar, MOS for National Health Services, Secretary National Health Services and other senior officials.
