Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met USA’s delegation headed by H.E Mr Antony Blinken, US Deputy Secretary of State at PM House this afternoon. Mr Antony Blinken appreciated the commitment of Pakistani leadership towards promoting peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. The US Deputy Secretary of State praised the strong worded statement by the Prime Minister endorsing legitimacy and sovereignty of Afghan government and Afghanistan.

‘We recognise Pakistan’s efforts in its fight against extremism and terrorism. US will help Pakistan and Afghanistan in promoting good economic relationship in future’, said Mr Antony Blinken.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that his government took the decision to start operation Zarb-e-Azab in the Tribal Areas of Pakistan to eliminate terrorism. ‘Our resolve to eradicate this menace is getting stronger and stronger despite the loss of precious innocent human lives and sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army and the law enforcement agencies. This fight is an irreversible process’, said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said that he is a strong advocate of peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. The US delegation said that USA will support the government of Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
