PR No. 82Message from Mr. Zahid Hamid, Minister For Human Rights On The Occasion Of International Human Rights Day (10TH DECEMBER, 2015) Islamabad: December 9, 2015

It is a matter of great pleasure for me that today our nation joins the international community for celebration of International Human Rights Day. Pakistan being party to the international conventions on human rights, stands committed to implement the provisions in true spirit. The Government has already taken some concrete and effective measures to protect Human Rights in line with the national and international commitments.

It is our national duty to ensure the well-being of all end, particularly of the vulnerable segments of society i.e women, children and minorities. State most and provide equal opportunities to all without any discrimination. Today, I reaffirm my pledge to protect Human Rights in the country so that our citizens may live in peaceful environment to make productive and secure nation.

Being cognizant of the situation of Human Rights in the country, we are continuously making legal and administrative reforms to cope with the multi pronged challenges ahead. The Ministry of Human Rights is making all out efforts for protection and promotion of Human Rights in the country through effective coordination with the Provincial Governments and other stakeholders. We have also established the National Commission for Human Rights to monitor Human Rights violations in the country more effectively.

It is need of the hour that all citizens should come forward and join hands with the Government for the noble cause of Human Rights. I also appreciate the UN agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations for continuously advocating and highlighting the Human Rights concerns. I hope they will continue pursuing this important mission with the same zeal and vigor.   May Allah succeed us in this noble cause-Aameen.
