Mr. Josper Moller Sorensen, Political Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, called on the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (SAPM), Syed Tariq Fatemi, today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Sorensen, who had earlier served as Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, is currently visiting Islamabad to attend the Heart of Asia- Istanbul Process Ministerial Meeting, which is being held on 8-9 December 2015.

The SAPM thanked Mr. Sorensen for Denmark’s close engagement with the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process, and apprised him of Pakistan’s contribution towards facilitating an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process. He also outlined the progress achieved by Pakistan against all terrorist groups, as a result of the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The Special Assistant underscored that high-level exchanges between Pakistan and Denmark in political, economic and cultural spheres could provide the requisite political impetus for furthering the bilateral ties in diverse areas.

Mr. Sorensen stressed that Denmark attached great importance to its relations with Pakistan, and would continue to explore ways to further strengthen the existing bilateral ties between the two sides. He appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan, in line with its policy for a peaceful neighbourhood. He also acknowledged the huge sacrifices made by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and welcomed its resolute and concerted efforts against this common threat.

Other issues of bilateral and regional importance were also discussed during the meeting.
