President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan values its relations with Belarus and desires to build a broad based, substantive and long term relations with Belarus in all fields in particular trade and economy.

The President said this during one on one meeting with Mr. Andrey Kobyakov Prime Minister of Belarus, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday and subsequent delegation level meeting. President Mamnoon Hussain expressed satisfaction at the growing relations between the two countries and stated that three visits between the two countries at the highest level during the last six months and formation of the “Working Group for Cooperation in the Belarusian Parliament with the Parliament of Pakistan” will provide impetus to enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

The President stated that the two countries have immense potential for economic and commercial relations and the trade volume between the two countries should be increased to the level of true potential in the field. President Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan offers excellent opportunities for foreign investors with investment friendly regulations and called upon Belarusian investors to make use of the incentives provided by the Government in Special Economic Zones.

The President commented that the Roadmap for Economic Cooperation signed between the two countries today will provide a framework for enhancing economic cooperation. He urged that there is a great scope for increasing our relations in the fields of textile, heavy vehicles, agricultural equipment, pharmaceuticals, dairy products and other machinery.

The President underscored the need for sustaining the momentum of cooperation between the two countries as a result of Eighteen MoUs/Agreements signed onTuesday which will lay a solid foundation for our future cooperation in diverse areas. President Mamnoon Hussain emphasized that Pakistan is committed to root out the scourge of terrorism from the country as Pakistan has been the worst victim of it. He said that the ongoing military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ is directed against all terrorists and it will continue till elimination of the last terrorist.

Mr. Andrey Kobyakov Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus was warmly received on his arrival at the Aiwan-e-Sadr by President Mamnoon Hussain and two traditionally dressed children presented bouquets to him. President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus held One on One meeting followed by delegation level call on. The Belarus delegation comprised of Minister for Industries, Minister of Architecture and Construction, Minister of Agriculture and Food, Minister of Education, Deputy Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Belarus. The Pakistani delegation consisted of Mr. Sartaj Aziz Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan Minister for National Food Security and Research, Lt Gen ® Abdul Qadir Baloch Minister for States & Frontier Regions, Mr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman MOS for Education and Professional Training and Mr. Tariq Fatemi, SAPM for Foreign Affairs.

Prime Minister of Belarus Mr. Andrey Kobyakov said that his country is desirous of expanding cooperation with Pakistan in sectors of trade, education, culture, economy and information technology. The Prime Minister of Belarus offered education facilities for Pakistani students in Belarusian universities. The Prime Minister of Belarus also stated that his country would cooperate with Pakistan for the success of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Later, President Mamnoon Hussain hosted a State Banquet in honour of Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus and his delegation at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. After the State Banquet, a band of Pakistan Army played delightful tunes which were appreciated by the visiting dignitary.
