PR No.81 Iqbal Day Observed In Pakistan Embassy, Kabul Islamabad

The Embassy of Pakistan, Kabul, organized an event today to observe the 138thbirth anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, says a press release received here today from Kabul. A number of eminent Afghan literary figures attended the event and paid rich tribute to the Poet of the East. Several poets recited their poems and scholars read their papers on Iqbal.  Famous Afghan Poet and writer, Mr. Sulemain Laiq, presided over the event while Mr. Habibullah Rafi (a well known Pushto poet), Mr. Daud Nadri (Member of Parliament) and Pir Mahmoud Gailani were guests of the honour.  Speaking on the occasion, Afghan intellectuals highlighted Iqbal’s contribution as a great philosopher and poet. They emphasized the need to follow the teachings of Poet of the East which could help overcoming the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah.   Ambassador Syed Abrar Hussain thanked all participants and appreciated the role of writers and poets in bringing people of the two countries closer. He also highlighted Iqbal’s love for Afghans and Afghanistan expressed through his Urdu and Persian poetry.
