PR No.61 Three Day Exhibition Organized By Ministry Of Climate Change On The Theme “Climate Change: Pakistan’s Resilience” Ended Today “ Islamabad

The inauguration of exhibition and ceremony of painting competition on the theme “Climate Change: Pakistan’s Resilience” organized by Ministry of Climate Change as pre-COP-21 event was held at Pakistan National Council of Arts, Islamabad on 4TH November ,2015. The French Ambassador in Pakistan Ms.Martine Dorance was invited as chief guest. The students from all over Pakistan Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, KPK and Azad Jammu and Kashmir participated in the competition. The total number of entries of paintings was 131.

The first prize of Rs.50, 000 won by Zunaira Irfan from Islamabad. The second prize of Rs.35000 won by Unza Mutahir of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, Sindh. The third prize of Rs.20,000 awarded to Nadia from National College of Arts, Islamabad. The certificates were also awarded to institutions which actively participated in the competition .These institutions include Karachi University, Mehran University of Information Technology, Jamshoro, Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate )F-7/2,COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad, Government Post Graduate College for Women, Satelite Town, National College of Arts Rawalpindi and University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad. After the distribution of certificates and prizes ,the chief guest inaugurated the exhibition of paintings. This exhibition will continue on 5th and 6th November,2015.

The panel of judges included Mr. Mansur Rahi(Artist),Ms.Hajra Mansur(Artist) ,Ms. Mussarat Nahid Imam (Director Visual Art of PNCA) and Mr.Nasir Chattha (Section Officer ,Ministry of Climate Change).

It is very important to engage youth of Pakistan in countering this issue of Climate Change, said by Director General (Environment)Mr.Irfan Tariq

“ The purpose of this activity is to sensitize the public and create awareness among masses. This event is organized for strong representation of Pakistan at side event and show casing of Pakistan at COP-21 going to be held end of this year in France. French embassy is also very active in Pakistan to engage Pakistani Communities”, highlighted by the Director General Mr.Irfan Tariq

A large number of people belonging to different walks of life Came to see the exhibition and appreciated vision of young generation on Climate Change.
