PR No.43 Workshop On Media Management In Crisis Situation Islamabad

Information Service Academy (ISA) organized a day long workshop on Media Management in Emergency situation for the Civil Servants of 20th MCMC (Mid Career Management Course) here on Wednesday. The group comprised upon Grade-18 officers from various service groups, who are currently undergoing training at the National Institute of Management (NIM), Peshawar. The trainee officers were welcomed by Mr. Sheraz Latif, Director General, ISA who initiated the programme by stressing the importance of learning media management in the crises situation and emergencies, especially in the national context. Mr. Abid Majeed, Secretary Information, KPK was especially invited on the occasion as guest of honour to share his personal experiences of communication management in crises situation. Following his brief and comprehensive talk, the trainer Ms. Amena Aly Kemal, who is a communications specialist, having background experience of working with different government and multilateral organizations, currently working with the United Nations, formally initiated the workshop. The programme comprised of three training sessions of one and a half hours each focusing on areas like public speaking, techniques of organizing and communicating key messages, talking points and press releases, interviews and question handling techniques, tips on conducting press conferences. The session attracted interest of participants through various group learning and task based exercises. The workshop was concluded by Ms. Saba Mohsin, Acting Secretary Information with certificate awarding ceremony wherein she appreciated active participation of the officers and the efforts of DG, ISA in organizing the workshop. She further remarked that such training sessions are need of the hour and crucial in developing necessary media management skills among civil servants. Mr. Sheraz Latif, DG ISA also vowed to utilize ISA platform for holding similar training sessions for civil servants in the future as well.
