PR No.16 The Fifth Session Of Pakistan – Austria Joint Working Group Islamabad

The Fifth Session of the Austrian-Pakistan Joint Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JWG) between the Republic of Austria and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held in Vienna on 02 November 2015 yesterday.

The Austrian delegation was headed by H.E. Ms. Bernadette Marianne Gierlinger, Vice Minister, Foreign Economic Policy and European Integration, Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy. The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was headed by H.E. Mr. Muhammad Saleem Sethi, Secretary Economic Affairs Division, Ministry of Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization.

Both sides underlined their general interest in further increasing cooperation in the following fields: Energy including Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency; Environmental Technology including Water and Waste Water Treatment and Waste Management; Infrastructure including Railways, Transport of Goods and Signal Systems; Tourism and Tourism Cooperation, including Tourism Management; SME Promotion; Dual Vocational Training; and Cooperation in the Field of Mining.

The Austrian side presented Memoranda of Austrian companies interested in an intensified cooperation with Pakistan. The Pakistan side agreed to facilitate such efforts to promote the mutual interest of Austria and Pakistan.

The discussions between both sides were conducted in a warm and cordial atmosphere reflecting the traditionally close relations between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to hold the Sixth Session of the JWG in Islamabad at a date to be agreed upon through diplomatic channels. The Fourth Session was held on 09-10 October 2007 in Vienna.
